Director and Producer of narrative, independent, feature films.
After several decades as a music producer and studio musician, working with some of the greatest talents in the industry, I left the entertainment industry and became a negotiator for big energy companies.
However, within a few years I was diagnosed with a severe case of "filmmaker" and after a protracted bout of Gear Acquisition Syndrome, my status as "normal business person" succumbed quietly.
With the impossibly good fortune of a mentorship under renowned producer Gray Frederickson (The Godfather I II III, Apocalypse Now, The Outsiders), I have honed my craft and gone on to complete 7 feature narrative films that have international distribution, with an additional film in post production and due to release Summer of 2024.
I have several projects in development and am always looking for other interesting projects in the action, thriller, adventure, or horror genres.

Jovi & Lou

Jovi & Lou is an entertaining comedy drama that takes a what-if situation and runs with it to unexpected places. Spears takes the outlandish premise head on and makes a full-blown comedy out of it, one that is both subtle and overt in its wit. The performances are earnest, and the direction sublime, and it all combines together into a film that is unexpected in both its ideas and execution.
It’s impressive how much gets done in Jovi & Lou’s relatively short feature runtime, which is thanks in large part to its production value that keeps the plot moving and the scenery changing constantly. It offers plenty to think about with subtle commentary on life itself, while remaining self-aware enough to throw in a wicked sense of humor. It’s the complete package, offering laughs to go with a complex clash between right and wrong, all presented in a wonderfully eccentric wrapper.

There’s a fantastic ongoing gag about Jesus Christ (Maurice Tillmon) that is hilarious. Lou’s self-assuredness is very amusing. A cameo in paradise involving Buddha (Jayanti Sharma) works like a charm as well. There’s a lot of tension as Joey searches for and chases down his targets. When he goes after the less-than-holy Reverand Cain (Allan Wayne Anderson), the scene is quite thrilling.

AGENT JADE BLACK
Agent Jade Black, for me, was like watching Robert Rodriguez’s El Mariachi, which was the indie film that served as his breakout project. Much in the same way El Mariachi was retooled into his Rodriguez’s first studio feature film, Desperado. What’s there to hate about a female Jason Bourne-type sex trafficked as a child, only to grow up and hunt down the very same people responsible for the worldwide sex trafficking business? Director Terry Spears does a great job with utilizing the locations available. I for sure thought the film was shot utilizing at least a few locations from Europe in the films later half.
